Emily writes about personal finance topics like housing affordability, college finance tips and more. Prior to writing for the BECU Blog, Emily was a marketing copywriter at BECU.

She has been a freelance writer for over 10 years, writing for businesses such as Manta.com, nonprofits such as New Directions Shelter of Knox County, the Knox Substance Abuse Action Team (KSAAT) and The Camp Cornish Foundation, automotive dealership marketing content for The Reynolds and Reynolds Company and marketing companies such as MOZAY. She has also helped small businesses and brands with social media marketing campaigns and website design.

With a background in journalism, Emily has reported for the Mount Vernon (Ohio) News, a daily newspaper covering law enforcement, local government, community events, high school sports and more. She later became the Communications and Public Relations Coordinator for her alma mater, Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU), and editor of the alumni magazine, the MVNU NOW. She also worked in fundraising at Seattle Pacific University and helped launch the inaugural Giving Day crowdfunding campaign.

Emily has a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Management, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, both earned from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
